First and foremost I am a collector. My passion started, many years ago now, with the purchase of a small Royal Doulton child figurine. Over the years my Royal Doulton collection grew, incorporating toby jugs, plates — in fact anything that caught my eye.
Many of my pieces were modelled by the late Peggy Davies and in fact during the late 1980's I was lucky enough to meet her when she launched her own range of figurines (Janus). It was during 1997, I believe, that I discovered Kevin Francis (later to become Peggy Davies Ceramics) figurines. It was love at first sight and hence my association with the company started.
It was actually my husband who led to my involvement with the Bulldog range. He was taken with this humourous and quirky breed and began collecting them. It soon became obvious to me that these bulldogs were an ideal platform for famous 'icons' and I began putting my ideas for the 'Fact or Fiction' series down on paper. With the invaluable help and support of both Mr Rhodri and Mr Rhys Davies of Peggy Davies Ceramics, together with the outstanding modelling abilities of both Mr Andrew Moss and Mr Ray Noble, I have been able to see my designs come to life. I would also mention the outstanding painting abilities of Miss Victoria Bourne who adds the final touches to these unique little characters.
It is my intention to do justice to the name of Peggy Davies Ceramics by creating Limited Edition pieces that will bring pleasure to those who own them. Hopefully they will, by nature of their very small numbers, become future collectables.
